Today I attended a 10 a.m. press conference in New Canaan, in which Governor M. Jodi Rell and Attorney General Richard Blumenthal announced that the State of Connecticut were filing suit to halt the implementation of the FAA's "unlawful" flight plan.
They were joined by First Selectman Judy Neville, who announced that the Alliance for Sensible Airspace Planning, a consortium of 11 towns and cities were filing suit in the 2nd District Court in New York. Absent was Congressman Christopher Shays, whose Chief of Staff, Paul Pimental, read a statement on behalf of Connecticut's 4th District Congressman.
During the question period that followed I declared that "we will prevail" over the FAA and announced that Congressman Shays will address the public directly at the Saturday November 3rd Step It Up: Who's the Leader? rally in front of Town Hall in New Canaan. Congressman Shays will address both climate change challenges we face and the next steps in terms of lobbying Congress to create a more sensible transportation policy that offers a genuine competitive and sustainable travel modes to climate change-inducing air travel. Its our increasing dependency on air travel that creates our crowded skies. The details of the rally are below.
